ABOUT TESSA

 
 

Tessa Lang majored in piano at Ithaca College in New York and Muhlenberg College, Pennsylvania.  After her initial studies, she pursued her MFA degree in opera at the famed Richard Strauss Conservatory, Munich.  Tessa became the first American ever accepted with a full scholarship.

Tessa began her musical studies at age six under the tutelage of the Sisters of the Immaculate heart of Mary, Reading, Pennsylvania.  At the age of eleven, she conducted the choir of St. Peter's Church, also in Reading, playing the piano, organ, and guitar.  In high school, Miss Lang was awarded a major piano scholarship at the distinguished Chautauqua Festival of the Arts, in New York.  Upon graduation from Muhlenberg, based on audition, she became the first American ever awarded a full scholarship to study opera at the prestigious Musik Hochschule fuer Musik (University of Music and Performing Arts,) Munich, Germany.  She completed an MFA in Opera and Vocal Performance under Kammersanger Friedrich Lenz of the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich.  She was selected as the first American to receive the prestigious Walter Kaminsky Stipend, enabling her to be an active vocal participant in Master Classes for the German Art Song with Erich Werba, University of Music and Theater, Vienna, Austria; and Paul von Schilawsky, Mozarteum, Salzburg, Austria.

Tessa has taught at NYU Tisch School of the Arts (CAP 21), AMDA, Fordham University, The Jaques Dalcroze School of Music, Marywood University, and Elizabeth College.  She has been featured in major journals and primetime television for her humanitarian work in transcending diversity through music, and incorporating a sound understanding of the emotional and spiritual aspects underlying artistic drive.  Her passion for the healing properties of music inspired the foundation of Dreamgates Children's Movement, a non-profit organization dedicated to guiding children from all racial and socio-economic backgrounds, towards an understanding of peace, unity, and acceptance, through music.  Together, Tessa and Johannes currently serve as the founders and artistic directors of Dreamgates.

As an esteemed vocal health practitioner, Tessa collaborates with health care professionals in the management of vocal performers. Through observation and direct tutelage, she targets and interprets the essential components of voice evaluation.  Tessa is sought after by major performing artists internationally, as well as young musicians, actors, dancers, and entrepreneurs for her specialized training and physical integration of voice production and projection.
